What Sets Us Apart
Takeover Comedy isn’t just another night of stand-ups - it’s a movement.
We create shows that feel alive, where the crowd, the comics, and the atmosphere all blend into one electric experience.
We focus on real connection, raw humour, and undeniable energy, bringing the best emerging and established comedians together in spaces that feel more like parties than performances. Every show feels like a takeover - of the venue, the vibe, and the night.
Unlike traditional comedy nights that follow the same formula, Takeover Comedy mixes music, hosting, and atmosphere to create a full-scale entertainment experience. Our audiences don’t just watch, they belong.
We platform diverse voices, authentic stories, and underground talent that deserve a spotlight. Whether it’s a club, theatre, or pop-up event - we make sure the crowd leaves feeling like they’ve witnessed something special, something real.
Because at Takeover Comedy, it’s not just stand-up
it’s a takeover.
Takeover Comedy was founded by Daniel Maitland and Nancy Macdonald - two friends who discovered that laughter has a way of showing up exactly when you need it most. What started as shared humour in the middle of chaos became a vision: to create a comedy night that feels alive - raw, real, and full of connection.
Daniel is a writer, photographer, and creative director who brings storytelling and emotion to everything he creates. His eye for human moments and his instinct for honesty shape the tone and energy behind Takeover, finding humour even in the things you probably shouldn’t laugh at.
Nancy is a stand-up comedian, host, and all-round powerhouse of presence. Her fearless wit and magnetic stage energy bring the show to life. She knows how to hold a crowd, break the tension, and make people laugh until it hurts - all while keeping it real.
Together, their friendship became the heartbeat of Takeover Comedy, a reminder that laughter isn’t just entertainment, it’s survival.
Every show blends sharp talent, music, and atmosphere to create something bigger than a comedy night - a shared moment that feels spontaneous, connected, and unforgettable.
Because the best kind of comedy doesn’t just make you laugh.
It takes over.
